About Pat Blackmon
Pat has spent a lifetime teaching and encouraging others to love sports and the great outdoors. In her teens she taught tennis and in college she taught swimming to infants and seniors. In her thirties she was instrumental in getting her county to establish leagues for women in softball and basketball. She led her 12 year old son, friends, and a group of Girl Scouts to love backpacking. Over the course of three summers, Pat and her son hiked the entire Appalachian Trail! In her forties she continued to play softball with the twenty year olds.

In her fifties Pat discovered the world of "seniors". In three short months she coached an inexperienced group of senior women softball players to become a formidable team. That team went on to win a Gold Medal in the Senior Olympics. Pats total medal count now is 5 golds, 3 silver and 2 bronze. That and numerous other softball coaching accomplishments got her elected to the Washington Metropolitan Area Softball Hall of Fame in 1995. In 2000, Pat was the first woman player inducted into the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame.

While biking has always been an interest of Pat's, in the last ten years she began leading others to love it too. She has led friends on trips in her rural Virginia countryside, in New England and even convinced two of them to join her in a San Diego, CA to St. Augustine, FL bike trip with a group of women over fifty.

At 69, she combines her over twenty five years of running her highly successful painting contracting company, her love of cycling and her extensive experience in senior sports to create a bike touring company. Pat's knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm have created a company uniquely qualified to bring seniors the joy of touring on bikes.
